Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last Updated: 17 September 2026
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how cancellations, booking changes and refunds are handled by Tasmanian Tours and Travel.
Travel bookings are often subject to the cancellation, refund and fare conditions of airlines, hotels, tour operators and other travel suppliers.
1. Customer-Initiated Cancellations
If you wish to cancel a booking, please contact Tasmanian Tours and Travel as soon as possible.
Your refund entitlement will depend on:
- the type of travel service purchased;
- the fare or booking conditions;
- the supplier's cancellation policy;
- how close the cancellation is to the travel date;
- whether the booking is refundable or non-refundable;
- whether the supplier has already issued or processed the booking; and
- applicable Australian consumer law.
Some travel products may be fully refundable, partially refundable or non-refundable.
2. Airline Tickets
Airline tickets are subject to the fare rules and conditions of the relevant airline.
Depending on the fare, cancellation may result in:
- a full refund;
- a partial refund;
- a cancellation fee;
- a credit or travel voucher;
- no refund; or
- other remedies available under the airline's conditions.
We will advise you of applicable conditions where reasonably practicable.
3. Hotel Bookings
Hotel cancellation policies vary between properties and room types.
Some hotel bookings allow cancellation without charge until a specified deadline, while others may be partially refundable or non-refundable.
Any cancellation charges imposed by the hotel or booking supplier may be deducted from the amount refundable to you where legally permitted.
4. Holiday Packages
Holiday packages may contain several separate travel services.
Each component may have its own cancellation and refund conditions.
Cancellation of one component does not necessarily mean that every component of the package is refundable.
We will assess the applicable supplier conditions and advise you of the available options.
5. Changes to Bookings
If you request a change rather than cancellation, additional charges may apply.
These may include:
- airline change fees;
- fare differences;
- hotel amendment fees;
- tour operator charges;
- taxes or government charges; and
- disclosed Tasmanian Tours and Travel service or administration fees.
You will be advised of applicable charges before the requested change is processed where reasonably practicable.
6. Airline Cancellation or Schedule Change
If an airline cancels or materially changes a flight, the available options will depend on the circumstances, airline policy, booking conditions and applicable law.
Possible remedies may include:
- rebooking;
- an alternative service;
- a credit;
- a refund; or
- another remedy required by applicable law.
We will assist customers with the available options.
7. Delays
Where a travel service is delayed, the rights and available remedies depend on the circumstances and the relevant supplier.
Customers should contact us as soon as reasonably possible if they require assistance.
8. No-Show
If a customer does not use a booked travel service without cancelling it beforehand, the supplier's no-show conditions may apply.
A no-show may result in the loss of the ticket, cancellation of onward reservations or additional charges.
Customers should contact us before departure if they believe they may miss a scheduled service.
9. Refund Processing
Where a refund is approved by the relevant supplier, we will process or facilitate the refund after receiving the applicable funds or confirmation from the supplier, subject to the supplier's procedures and applicable law.
Refund processing times can vary.
We are not responsible for delays caused solely by an airline, hotel, payment provider or other third-party supplier.
10. Service and Administration Fees
Where Tasmanian Tours and Travel charges a booking, cancellation, amendment or administration fee, the applicable fee will be disclosed before it is incurred where reasonably practicable.
Any fee is subject to applicable Australian Consumer Law.
11. Consumer Guarantees
Nothing in this Refund & Cancellation Policy excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
For major failures with the service, you may have rights including:
- cancelling your service contract;
- obtaining a refund for the unused portion; or
- obtaining compensation for reduced value.
You may also be entitled to compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
For non-major failures, you may have the right to have the problem rectified within a reasonable time and, in certain circumstances, cancel the service and obtain a refund for the unused portion.
12. Change of Mind
A customer does not automatically have a right to a refund simply because they change their mind.
Where a cancellation is not caused by a failure covered by Australian Consumer Law, the applicable booking and supplier cancellation conditions will generally determine whether a refund is available.
